The Blackhawks Bantam A traveled to Tampa for the Big Bear President's Day Tournament looking to grab some season ending wins. The other teams took notice immediately when the team opened the tournament with an 11-5 rout of the Jr.Bulls. It was the team's highest one game goal total all season. Later that day, they took on the always tough Atlanta Knights. The Blackhawks were very stingy in this one, allowing only one goal for a 3-1 victory. Next up, the 2-0 Texas Aces. In a very exciting game between the undefeated teams, the Aces came away with a 1-0 win. Coach Perry couldn't let this loss get the team down, as they now had to play Texas again for the championship. These two evenly matched teams played their hearts out and the score was tied after regulation at 4-4. Then came the sudden death heroics of Andrew LeRoy. Andrew, who had missed a good part of the season with a bad injury, was swamped by his teammates when he scored in the overtime to give the Blackhawks a 5-4 Championship Win!

Former Palm Beach Icehawk, Matt Wahl, committed to Division 1 Brown University earlier this week. Matt, who plays for the Omaha Lancers of the USHL, will lace them up and compete in the ECAC where he will battle against schools like Harvard, Princeton, and Yale to name a few.
It is the second Division 1 college commitment of the year for former Skatezone players. Earlier this year, Kevin Goumas, decided on the University of New Hampshire. A Hockey East powerhouse, UNH is currently ranked 16th in the country.
We've added an alumni page to our site to follow the "hockey paths" that some of our former youth hockey players have taken. We're happy to report that Matt Wahl (91), a former "Icehawk" is our first alumni on the page. Kevin Goumas(91) has joined Matt on our page - and our list is growing! Check back often to see their accomplishments, we'll be adding our alumni as we get their stories.
